Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a manhunt for a police officer stationed in Busia County who is suspected of killing his estranged wife at a hotel in Silibwet Trading Centre, Bomet County

According to Bomet County Criminal Investigations Officer Emmanuel Ogao, the officer allegedly lured the woman to the hotel under the pretext of reconciling their differences. He reportedly booked a room for the meeting, where he is accused of strangling her before fleeing the scene and abandoning the body

Police sources indicate that the suspect later contacted some of his relatives and informed them about the incident. The information prompted an alert that led officers to the hotel, where they discovered the woman’s body

The deceased, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher from Olenguruone in Nakuru County, had reportedly been living with her parents in Bomet after leaving her matrimonial home. Sources described the marriage as troubled, citing allegations of a toxic relationship

Crime scene investigators documented the scene before the body was transferred to Longisa Hospital mortuary. Authorities say investigations are ongoing as efforts to trace and arrest the suspect intensify
