2025 KCSE Results Released: 1,932 Students Score A as University Entry Improves

The Ministry of Education has released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, showing an overall improvement in learner performance and a rise in the number of students qualifying for direct university admission
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba announced the results on Friday at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret
He reported that 993,226 candidates sat the 2025 KCSE exams, up from 962,512 in 2024, marking an increase of 30,714 candidates (3.19%)

The ministry noted that performance improved in 17 subjects, while 11 subjects recorded a decline, slightly higher than the previous year
A total of 1,932 candidates (0.19%) achieved an overall mean grade of A (plain), compared to 1,693 (0.18%) in 2024
The number of students attaining the direct university entry grade of C+ and above rose to 270,715 (27.18%), up from 246,391 (25.53%) the previous year. Those scoring C– and above also increased to 507,131 (50.92%), while D+ and above rose to 634,082 (63.67%)
National schools led in top grades, producing 1,526 A (plain) grades, followed by Extra County schools (197) and private schools (185)

At mid-tier performance, Sub-County schools outperformed County schools in the number of candidates attaining C+ and above, with 72,699 compared to 36,600
On gender performance, female candidates excelled in six subjects: English, Kiswahili, Kenyan Sign Language, Home Science, CRE, and Art & Design
Male candidates outperformed females in 11 subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, History & Government, Geography, IRE, Building & Construction, and Business Studies
Performance was comparable between genders in seven subjects, including Physics, Agriculture, Computer Studies, French, German, Arabic, and Music
Regarding exam irregularities, CS Ogamba stated that 1,180 candidates were found to have engaged in misconduct, and their results have been cancelled in line with the law
