President William Ruto has stepped in to support gospel singer Njeru Thiga after it emerged that the musician is battling cancer
Speaking on Sunday, December 14, during a church service at the AIPCA Gatundu North Diocese in Kiambu County, the President pledged Sh2 million to help cater for Thiga’s medical treatment
The matter was brought to the President’s attention by media personality MC Kogi Investor

Thiga’s wife, Njambi, said the diagnosis came as a shock to the family, explaining that earlier medical examinations had only indicated digestive complications
She noted, however, that the cancer was detected at an early stage, enabling the family to fast-track arrangements for specialised treatment in India

In the wake of the diagnosis, philanthropist and gospel musician Karangu Muraya helped organise an online fundraiser to rally support for Thiga’s medical journey
A visibly emotional Thiga later took to Facebook to thank well-wishers for their support, sharing videos of prayers offered on his behalf. “May a day like this never dawn on you, my friends. May God hide you,” he wrote
