A 36-year-old woman has been arrested in Diani, Kwale County, after detectives recovered large quantities of narcotics during an operation conducted on Friday
The suspect, identified as Hellen Saru Mwajombo, was apprehended by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) while in possession of two green gunny bags stuffed with rolls of cannabis
According to the DCI, Mwajombo later led detectives to a nearby residence where a further search uncovered additional narcotics
Officers seized several packages, including a black bag and another green gunny bag, all containing cannabis
Detectives also impounded a white Nissan Note, registration number KDS 092K, which is suspected to have been used to facilitate the drug trade

In a statement, the DCI reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking, noting that sustained operations and collaboration with other agencies remain key in dismantling narcotics networks
Investigations into the matter are ongoing as police seek to establish possible links to a wider drug distribution network operating in the coastal region
