Three men accused of involvement in a series of violent robberies across Eldoret will remain in custody while investigations continue, a court has ruled
Eldoret Chief Magistrate Peter Ndwiga directed that Geoffrey Kakwila, Emmanuel Odhiambo, and Lewis Wafula be held at Ainabtich Police Station cells for seven days to give police and investigators time to complete their inquiries

Prosecutors argued before the court that releasing the suspects at this stage could lead to interference with witnesses, including those expected to testify in the case. They also told the court that one of the alleged victims remains in critical condition at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and has not yet been issued a P3 medical form, which is crucial in criminal proceedings
Additionally, the state raised concerns that the suspects do not have fixed residences, increasing the risk of them absconding if granted bail
The trio were apprehended by members of the public on February 10, 2026, after they were allegedly cornered while carrying out a robbery in the Kimumu area along the Eldoret–Iten highway. Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have linked them to multiple violent robberies reported in various estates
The case is set to be mentioned again on February 18, 2026, when the court is expected to give further directions
