“According to the correspondence and the minutes received, the Majority Party resolved to remove Sen. (Dr.) Boni Khalwale as the Senate Majority Whip and elected Sen. David Wafula Wakoli in his place,” the Speaker’s communication read in part

Khalwale’s removal follows months of tension between him and the UDA leadership after he opted to support DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako in the Malava race instead of UDA’s preferred candidate, David Ndakwa

Khalwale remained defiant, insisting he had faced intimidation and threats from the party, even challenging leaders to remove him if they wished. He also claimed that his bodyguards were withdrawn without notice due to political differences

“My security detail has been withdrawn without any warning or explanation,” Khalwale said on November 26, 2025

The development has sparked debate in political circles as analysts watch closely to see what this means for the seasoned senator’s future
