CAF Honours President Ruto with Outstanding Achievement Award

President William Ruto has received the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2025, recognising his major contributions to the growth and development of football in Kenya and across the continent

The award was presented on Wednesday night during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco, and was accepted on his behalf by Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed praised the government’s continued support for sports, expressing confidence that Kenyan players would soon claim major continental accolades

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni were also recognised for strengthening football institutions and backing key African sporting initiatives

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe applauded the three East African leaders for their commitment to driving football forward on the continent

Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda co-hosted the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), an event that showcased upgraded stadiums, improved logistics, and elevated operational standards. Kenya is also gearing up to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)

During the ceremony, Nigeria’s Super Falcons won Women’s Team of the Year, with Chiamaka Nnadozie named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year. Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi was crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year, while Ghizlane Chebbak took the Women’s Player of the Year Award
