Kenya heads back to the ballot today as voters in selected constituencies and wards participate in 24 by-elections triggered by deaths of officeholders and court rulings that nullified previous results

The contests, spread across the country, have drawn national attention as political parties test their strength and assess voter sentiment ahead of the 2027 General Election

Parliamentary seats in Mbeere North, Ugunja, Malava, Magarini and Kasipul are among the most closely watched, with voters set to elect new Members of Parliament

In Baringo County, residents will also choose a new senator

Political analysts say the outcomes may signal early shifts in regional alliances and party influence as the country edges closer to 2027

At the county assembly level, multiple wards are holding polls, including Chewani (Tana River), Narok Town (Narok), Tembelio (Uasin Gishu), Lake Zone and Nana-am (Turkana)

 Additional by-elections are underway in Kisia East, Kabuchai/Chwele, Purko, Ang’ata Nanyokie, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny, and Metkei in Elgeyo Marakwet

In the western region, voters in Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya and Ekerenyo wards (Nyamira County) are casting ballots, while urban wards Mumbuni North (Machakos) and Kariobangi North (Nairobi) are also holding elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has assured the public of fair and credible polls
