President William Ruto has unveiled plans to construct a new expressway from Thika to Museum Hill starting next year, aiming to ease traffic along the busy Thika Superhighway
Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium, Ruto also announced the revival of all stalled road projects in Nairobi, saying the national and county governments had agreed to return contractors to their sites

He noted that 60 kilometres of roads are already under construction in estates such as Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi West, Roysambu, and Embakasi South
A new contractor has also been deployed to complete the long-delayed Valley Road project

The President further revealed plans to expand key routes within the Nairobi metropolitan area, including upgrading the Bomas–Rongai–Kiserian and Karen–Ngong–Kiserian roads into dual carriageways to ease daily congestion
Ruto said the new Thika Expressway will mirror the Nairobi Expressway built under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, promising improved mobility for thousands of commuters
