A multi-agency security team has intercepted a Kenya-bound passenger bus from Tanzania carrying cannabis valued at approximately Ksh.2.5 million at the Namanga One-Stop Border Post
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the bus, operated by Kidia One Express, was stopped for a routine inspection by officers drawn from the Anti-Narcotic Unit (ANU), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), and the Police Dog Unit

During a thorough search, detectives recovered four tightly wrapped bundles containing 84 packets of cannabis, weighing a total of 84 kilograms
The bus driver, identified as 37-year-old George Ngoba, and his 25-year-old conductor, Trisha Lucas—both Tanzanian nationals were arrested and placed in custody. The recovered narcotics were seized and detained as exhibits

In a statement, the DCI said the operation underscores the government’s commitment to fighting narcotics trafficking through intelligence-led enforcement and coordinated multi-agency operations
“This interception highlights the government’s resolve to disrupt drug trafficking networks, prosecute offenders, and protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs,” the DCI noted
Investigations are ongoing as authorities prepare to arraign the suspects in court
