CS Geoffrey Ruku Denies Claims of Rigathi Gachagua Visiting Late Grandmother’s Home in Mbeere
He further criticized media outlets for publishing unverified reports, framing them as attempts to destabilize the electoral process
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has dismissed claims that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited his grandmother’s home in Karigiri, Mbeere North, calling the reports “false and misleading”
Speaking at a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rally in Muminji, Embu County, ahead of the November 27 by-election, CS Ruku accused Gachagua of spreading propaganda aimed at confusing voters
He further criticized media outlets for publishing unverified reports, framing them as attempts to destabilize the electoral process
Ruku clarified that both his parents passed away years ago, and he has no living grandmother in Karigiri. “Mtu wa kuongea uongo, mtu wa kejeli… anasema ameingia kwa boma ya grandmother ya Ruku hapa Karigiri. Mimi niko na shosho hapa Karigiri?” he said, portraying Gachagua as a habitual liar and opportunist

The CS linked the allegations to Gachagua’s previous ouster in 2024, stressing that such conduct undermines public trust in leadership
CS Ruku also used the rally to mobilize support for UDA candidate Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende, urging residents to vote for a candidate aligned with the Kenya Kwanza administration to ensure continuity in government-led development initiatives
“The people of Mbeere North should elect our candidate so that we can push the actualization of government development in the region,” he added
The upcoming by-election is seen as a key test for UDA’s influence in the area, with Gachagua and the united opposition aiming to challenge the government’s stronghold
