Former presidential aspirant Reuben Kigame has criticized Easy Coach and local road authorities after surviving a near-fatal road incident early Sunday morning along the Kapsabet–Chavakali road in Vihiga County
Kigame said the incident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. when an Easy Coach bus allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed. According to him, the bus approached with full headlights on, forcing his driver to swerve off the road to avoid a head-on collision

In a statement shared on his X account, Kigame accused the bus company of allowing what he termed a “rogue driver” to operate one of its vehicles. He also faulted Vihiga County officials and national road agencies, including the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), over what he described as the poor condition of the road where the incident occurred
“Easy Coach, you wanted to kill us this morning. You came with full lights aiming at us and drove us into the ditch. Shame on you as a company, shame on your drivers, Vihiga County, the Kenya Highways Authority and the NTSA. If it was not for God, I would be dead together with my friends here,” Kigame wrote

He further stated that the section of the road at Shiru, where the incident happened, is in a deplorable condition and requires urgent attention. Kigame thanked local residents, including Mr. Manasseh Kijo and others, who assisted them out of the ditch
Kigame was reportedly en route to speak at the University of Eldoret at the time of the incident
No injuries were reported, and Easy Coach had not issued a public response by the time of publication
