Panic and confusion gripped Nairobi’s upscale Westlands area after a 22-storey building under construction partially collapsed, leaving at least two workers trapped beneath debris. The incident, which occurred earlier today, has raised fresh concerns about construction safety standards in one of the city’s fastest-growing districts.

Officials have cordoned off the area, urging the public to stay away to allow rescue operations to proceed uninterrupted. Traffic in surrounding roads has also been disrupted as emergency vehicles move in and out of the site.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, but preliminary speculation points to possible structural weaknesses or non-compliance with building regulations. Investigations are expected to begin once rescue efforts are complete.
