Kisumu County City Manager Michael Abala Wanga has been ordered to present himself before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) as investigations into multiple forgery and fraud allegations intensify
The directive was issued on Tuesday by Milimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Harrison Barasa, who instructed Wanga to report to EACC on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, for processing and the recording of a cautionary statement
He is expected to return to court on December 2, 2025, for plea-taking on charges already approved by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)

According to the DPP, Wanga faces several counts ranging from forgery and alteration of official documents to the fraudulent acquisition of public funds
Prosecutors allege he forged and manipulated various documents, including a letter dated June 10, 2024, purportedly inviting him to the CLEAN Air Forum in Lagos, Nigeria
The allegedly altered letter was reportedly used to obtain excess facilitation payments from the Kisumu County Government. On June 19, 2024, Wanga is accused of presenting the falsified invitation bearing the name of the University of Lagos to irregularly receive Ksh.283,402.50

Wanga’s plea-taking next week is expected to set the tone for what could become one of the most closely watched anti-corruption cases in the county
