The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Athman Ndakwa the MP-elect for Malava Constituency following Thursday’s by-election

According to results announced by Returning Officer Salim Abdalla Salim, Ndakwa emerged victorious with 21,564 votes, narrowly defeating Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako, who garnered 20,210 votes in a closely fought contest

Kenya Moja’s Wilberforce Indai finished third with 626 votes

The by-election recorded a 46.2% voter turnout, with 43,675 ballots cast from a total of 94,417 registered voters across 198 polling stations

Ndakwa’s victory adds to UDA’s growing tally in the ongoing by-election cycle, coming amid reports of tension and isolated incidents of violence in parts of the constituency
