The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has assured the public of a steady and reliable electricity supply during the Christmas and New Year festivities, citing strong performance from its Seven Forks hydro power cascade

In a statement released on Monday, KenGen confirmed that the hydro system is currently generating high output, ensuring sufficient low-cost renewable energy for the national grid despite global volatility in energy prices

“As of the morning of December 8, total hydro generation from the system stood at 473.14MW against an installed capacity of 600.4MW,” said KenGen Managing Director and CEO, Eng. Peter Njenga
