The Senate will convene this Thursday, November 27, 2025, to hear charges against Nyamira Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo, a day after his impeachment by the County Assembly
In a Gazette notice issued today, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi scheduled the sitting for 2:30 p.m. to consider the motion seeking the governor’s removal from office
The session is in line with Article 181 of the Constitution, Section 33(3)(a) of the County Governments Act, and Standing Order 80(1)(a) of the Senate Standing Orders

Governor Nyaribo was impeached on November 25 after 23 of the 31 MCAs present voted in favor of the motion
Four other MCAs had requested to participate in the vote through written communication but were not included in the final tally
The motion, introduced by Bonyamatuta Ward MCA Julius Kimwomi Matwere, accuses Nyaribo of abuse of office and violating legal procedures
