Safaricom, AFTV Tour Connects Football, Technology and Youth

Safaricom and Arsenal Fan TV (AFTV) have concluded a four-day tour of Kenya aimed at supporting grassroots football, nurturing young talent and creating opportunities for digital content creators.
The tour, which concluded on August 5, 2026, brought together football fans, young players and digital creators through a series of sporting and technology-focused activities.
The programme began with an official launch before moving to Toi Primary School in Kibera, where the AFTV team joined young footballers for a grassroots tournament and community engagement activities.
The session provided an opportunity for young players to showcase their talent while highlighting the importance of creating pathways for youth seeking careers in football.
The AFTV team later met Arsenal fans and Safaricom employees at the telecommunications company’s headquarters before concluding the tour with a content creators’ masterclass at Zetech University.
The masterclass focused on digital literacy, content monetisation, personal branding and strategies for attracting commercial partnerships.
Speaking during the fan and staff engagement session at the Michael Joseph Centre, AFTV founder Robbie Lyle said Kenya’s strong passion for football made it a natural destination for the tour.
He noted that the platform was committed to telling authentic football stories that connect communities and showcase the passion surrounding the sport.
The partnership builds on Safaricom’s investment in grassroots football through the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament, which has provided thousands of young players with opportunities to showcase their skills.
Safaricom Director of Brand and Marketing Zizwe Awuor said partnerships were critical to growing football and increasing the visibility of Kenyan talent.
“Growing football requires strong partnerships,” Awuor said, noting that collaborations with organisations including Football Kenya Federation and global platforms such as AFTV could create more opportunities for young players.
The company said its newly launched Pata More campaign would also give football fans greater opportunities to follow their favourite teams, engage with content creators and produce and share their own football content.
Kenyan Arsenal fan and content creator Nick Big Fish described the AFTV visit as an inspiring experience, particularly the content creators’ training session.
He also praised Safaricom for supporting Kenyan creators through affordable data bundles that enable them to produce and distribute digital content.
The Safaricom-AFTV partnership highlights the growing connection between sport, technology and the digital economy, with stakeholders seeking to use football as a platform for youth empowerment, creativity and economic opportunity.
