Ruku Dismisses Gachagua’s Election Violence Claims, Urges Legal Reporting Channels
Gachagua claimed the individuals were close allies of Ruku and accused the Cabinet Secretary of attempting to “impose a candidate” on local voters
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has dismissed allegations by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who linked some of Ruku’s associates to threats of election violence. Ruku described the claims as “politically motivated hate speech” aimed at tarnishing his reputation
The allegations stem from a letter Gachagua wrote, referencing a video clip in which three individuals Simon Njagi Njiru, Josiah Kariuki Ngari, and Susan Nyaga allegedly threatened him and residents of Mbeere North Constituency ahead of his campaign tour scheduled for November 16, 2025
Gachagua claimed the individuals were close allies of Ruku and accused the Cabinet Secretary of attempting to “impose a candidate” on local voters

In response, Ruku acknowledged knowing two of the individuals but categorically denied any involvement in their alleged actions
“For the record, Mr. Josiah Kariuki Ngari and Ms. Susan Nyaga are well known to me. However, I am not and cannot be personally responsible for their private activities or utterances,” Ruku stated

Ruku further criticized Gachagua for bypassing formal legal channels, emphasizing that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is legally mandated to receive, record, and investigate complaints
“The letter to the Inspector General of Police was motivated more by Mr. Gachagua’s usual dramatisations than by his quest for criminal justice,” he said, also sharing DCI contact details and urging the public to report any criminal conduct through proper legal channels
