President Ruto Takes Decisive Action Against Corrupt Forest Managers and Rangers
In a resolute move, President William Ruto issued an order on Wednesday for the immediate dismissal of forest managers and 23 rangers, accusing them of engaging in corrupt practices within the Kenya Forest Service.
Speaking during the pass-out of KFS graduates in Gilgil, Nakuru County, President Ruto expressed his concerns about corruption and its connection to deforestation.
He directed the Kenya Forest Service Board to swiftly remove these individuals from their government positions and payroll, classifying them as “saboteurs.”
Ruto made it clear that the corrupt officials would face legal consequences for their actions. The 23 forest officers and rangers are currently under investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for their alleged involvement in forest destruction, corruption, dereliction of duty, and incompetence.
Once the investigations are complete, they will be prosecuted, and if convicted, removed from both the Kenya Forest Service and government payroll.
To spearhead this cleanup process and bring about essential reforms in the Kenya Forest Service, President Ruto assigned Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Soipan Tuya.
He emphasized that these reforms were pivotal for the successful implementation of climate change programs in Kenya.
President Ruto reiterated his commitment to safeguarding Kenya’s environment and ensuring that competent and ethical officers have the opportunity to serve the nation diligently.
This directive serves as a stern warning to all individuals involved in corrupt practices that compromise the preservation of the country’s forests and natural resources.
