President Ruto Set to Deliver State of the Nation Address

In what will be his third address, the President is anticipated to highlight progress made under his administration while facing mounting scrutiny over unfulfilled promises since taking office in 2022

President William Ruto is expected to deliver his State of the Nation address today, Thursday, November 20, at 2 p.m. during a joint sitting of Parliament

In what will be his third address, the President is anticipated to highlight progress made under his administration while facing mounting scrutiny over unfulfilled promises since taking office in 2022

A significant portion of his speech is expected to center on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), whose implementation has faced notable challenges

He is also likely to address key issues such as the Affordable Housing Programme, the Hustler Fund, domestic and external debt, the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and reforms to university funding models

Last year’s address saw President Ruto emphasize improvements in food security, though some of the data presented did not fully align with figures from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). Citizen TV later conducted a detailed fact-check of those claims

This year, the President is expected to spotlight the progress made in constructing affordable homes, a flagship achievement of the Kenya Kwanza government

However, education funding shortfalls and turmoil in the health sector characterized by strikes and irregularities in SHIF remain major concerns
