President William Ruto has led Kenyans in mourning the late former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, who tragically died on Saturday in a road accident along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway
In a statement on social media, President Ruto described Jirongo as a personal friend and a towering figure in Kenya’s political and business circles
He praised Jirongo as a resilient leader, a seasoned businessman, and a politician who faced life’s challenges head-on

“He lived life on his own terms and was a fighter in every sense: blunt yet warm, bold yet approachable, enlightened and endlessly entrepreneurial,” the President said, highlighting Jirongo’s generosity in uplifting others through his time, resources, and influence
Tributes have poured in from leaders across the political spectrum. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka called Jirongo a “bold and charismatic leader” whose contribution to public life will be remembered
