Years of relentless traffic and tragic road accidents along Kenya’s Western Corridor may soon be a thing of the past
The 175km Nairobi-Mau Summit road and the 58km Nairobi-Maai Mahiu-Naivasha stretch, notorious for congestion and treacherous terrain along the Kikuyu Escarpment, have long been a source of frustration and heartbreak for commuters
The roads have witnessed thousands of lives lost over the years, with 284 fatalities recorded in 2024 alone and 168 in 2023

Families have been shattered, dreams cut short, and the nation deprived of immense human potential
Today, a new chapter begins. At Kamandura, Kiambu County, officials launched the dualling of these critical highways, a transformative $1.54 billion (KSh200 billion) project aimed at ending the gridlock, danger, and inefficiency that have plagued the corridor
