Peter Wanyama Enters Race for LSK Presidency

Lawyer Peter Wanyama has officially submitted his nomination papers to contest for the presidency of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), setting the stage for a competitive election ahead of the early 2026 polls
The LSK has announced that several key positions will fall vacant in March 2026, including president, vice-president, and three representatives of the general membership
According to the Society’s secretary, the vacancies are in line with the Law Society of Kenya Act, 2014, and the Law Society of Kenya (General) Regulations, 2020, which govern the election and tenure of office bearers

Wanyama, a practicing advocate, is making his second bid for the LSK’s top seat after an unsuccessful attempt in the previous elections
More candidates are expected to submit their nomination papers in the coming days while the nomination window remains open

The upcoming elections arrive at a time when LSK continues to play a central role in national discussions on constitutionalism, judicial independence, access to justice, and protection of fundamental rights
Successful candidates will be tasked with guiding the Society through these debates while promoting the professional welfare of its members
