KJSEA Examiner Dies at Machakos Marking Centre

According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), the deceased  Nicodemus Mutua Mutuku  had been actively involved in the KJSEA marking process, which began on November 7, 2025. Mutuku served as a team leader for the Creative Arts and Sports Paper

An examiner participating in the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) marking exercise died on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Machakos Girls High School

According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), the deceased  Nicodemus Mutua Mutuku  had been actively involved in the KJSEA marking process, which began on November 7, 2025

Mutuku served as a team leader for the Creative Arts and Sports Paper

KNEC noted that Mutuku was a long-serving examiner, having previously marked the now-defunct Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations before transitioning to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system

He was also a teacher at Nduluni Junior School in Makindu Sub-County, Makueni County

“We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Mr. Mutuku’s family, friends, loved ones and fellow examiners,” KNEC CEO Dr. David Njengere said in a statement on Tuesday

The marking exercise commenced shortly after the KJSEA examinations were completed on November 6, 2025


The Ministry of Education has indicated that results for the Junior Secondary assessments will be released on December 11, 2025
