Kindiki Warns Against Violence Ahead of Mbeere North By-Election

Speaking while leading campaigns for UDA candidate Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende Leo, DP Kindiki accused some opposition figures of attempting to disrupt peace through intimidation

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to opposition leaders against sponsoring violence in Mbeere North as the constituency prepares for next week’s by-election

Speaking while leading campaigns for UDA candidate Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende Leo, DP Kindiki accused some opposition figures of attempting to disrupt peace through intimidation

“We cannot allow some people to incite us against each other while we face pressing challenges in Mt Kenya East. We have no problem with our opponents, but we will not tolerate anyone sponsoring goons to create divisions among the peaceful people of Embu and Mbeere North,” he cautioned

Addressing residents in Karambari on Tuesday, Prof. Kindiki criticized leaders who had previously held senior government positions but failed to improve local livelihoods

“You did nothing when you were in office, and now you lecture us while insulting Embu leaders elected by wananchi. This era of pride and insults is over,” he added

The Deputy President reaffirmed the ruling coalition’s support for Mr. Leo, emphasizing his capability to drive ongoing development projects to completion

Key initiatives include the tarmacking of Saikago-Kanyuambora and Gukuyari-Muminji-Kirie-Ishiara Roads, 12 modern markets in Embu County three in Mbeere North and water and electricity projects, including a doubled allocation for last-mile electricity connections to Sh500 million

“As your neighbor from Tharaka Nithi, I urge you not to be swayed by those who do not have your best interests at heart. Completion of these projects will be difficult if the area MP belongs to the opposition and opposes the government daily,” DP Kindiki said

He added that with Mr. Leo in Parliament, pushing forward constituency projects would be far easier, ensuring that development continues without political obstruction
