Kenyan Government Won’t Renew Cuban Doctor Agreement
Health Cabinet Secretary Nakumicha Wafula has declared that the government will not extend its contract with Cuban doctors who were originally invited to the country to address shortages in county hospitals six years ago.
In 2017, Kenya and Cuba formalized a collaborative program, where Cuban doctors offered support in Kenyan hospitals, while Kenyan doctors received specialized training in Cuba.
“We have opted not to renew the agreement with the Cuban doctors. Our dedicated healthcare professionals here are fully committed to this mission,” Nakumicha stated.
