IEBC Assures Kenyans of Free, Fair By-Elections on November 27

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan has assured Kenyans that preparations for Thursday’s by-elections are complete, promising a free, fair, and credible electoral process
Speaking in Mbeere North Constituency, Marjan led a multi-agency security meeting ahead of the polls, stating that all logistical and security arrangements are in place
“All is set. We have trained all the clerks. Preparations for setting up the materials are ready, and ballots will be opened tomorrow,” Marjan said
He assured voters that polling stations in Mbeere North and other by-election areas will have adequate security, revealing that 40 officers are already stationed at tallying centres, with additional teams expected

“We will have two police officers per polling station, and more officers at the tallying centre. Security teams from neighbouring counties have also been mobilised to handle any emerging issues,” he added
Marjan confirmed that clerk training was completed on Monday and all polling materials have been dispatched to constituency tallying centres. Deployment of election officials and materials to polling stations will begin on Wednesday

Highlighting the role of youth in the process, Marjan said, “We want to give the country credible elections. All stakeholders have a role to play, including the youth, who will conduct these elections at the polls”
The by-elections, scheduled for November 27, cover 24 polls: one Senate seat in Baringo County, six parliamentary seats, and 17 MCA positions. Constituencies voting for new MPs include Kasipul, Mbeere North, Ugunja, Magarini, Banissa, and Malava
