Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has sounded a tough warning to county officials accused of undermining her administration, signalling a looming purge within her government
Speaking on Friday, November 28, during the burial of educationist Mama Beliah Auma Ogaga in Otaro, Wanga warned that any county staff enjoying the privileges of office while criticising her leadership should resign immediately
Wanga, who did not mention Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga by name, insisted that loyalty and discipline are non-negotiable

She stated that anyone unwilling to support her administration must “leave and allow those ready to work” to take over
Her remarks come in the wake of tensions sparked by Magwanga’s public support for an independent candidate in the Kasipul by-election, a move that unsettled ODM structures and fuelled perceptions of divisions within the county’s top leadership

Wanga emphasised that she worked hard to clinch the gubernatorial seat and would not tolerate employees who disparage the same government they serve
She also hinted at stricter internal discipline, warning that workers accused of bribery or laziness would be replaced
The fallout in Homa Bay continues to widen, with some ODM officials calling for Magwanga’s resignation, arguing that his actions paint a picture of disunity ahead of the 2027 elections
