Woman Found Dead in Kirinyaga as Police Launch Murder Probe

Police in Kirinyaga County have launched investigations after a 40-year-old woman was found dead under unclear circumstances on Sunday morning
The body of Jane Wambui was discovered naked and dumped in a farm at Tokyo village in Thumaita area, Ndia Sub-county, about 500 metres from her family homestead
According to her brother, John Wachira, a pair of shoes believed to belong to the deceased was found abandoned by the roadside, raising suspicions that the suspect may have attempted to conceal the crime
The deceased’s husband, Simon Njiru, has demanded justice, alleging that his wife was raped and murdered. He revealed that the couple had been experiencing marital problems and had separated in October 2025
“Whoever killed and raped my wife must be arrested and prosecuted,” Njiru said

The killing has shocked residents of the area, with villagers expressing outrage and disbelief over the incident
“She was the most joyous and trusted woman in this village. Why would anyone kill her?” said her cousin, Lewis Murage
News of the murder spread quickly, disrupting church services in nearby villages as residents gathered to seek answers and demand justice

“We were with her earlier at Baricho shopping centre. We want justice for Wambui,” said one of the deceased’s friends
Police officers from Baricho Police Station visited the scene and moved the body to Kibugi Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted
Investigations are ongoing as the community continues to demand swift action and accountability over the killing
