Six Arrested in Kisumu for Selling Fake Pesticides
The suspects were caught by surprise as inspectors raided the busy street, seizing the illegal products before taking the hawkers into custody

Six hawkers were arrested on Thursday evening along Jomo Kenyatta Highway in Kisumu for selling unlicensed and counterfeit pesticides during a crackdown by officers from the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB)
The suspects were caught by surprise as inspectors raided the busy street, seizing the illegal products before taking the hawkers into custody

Stephen Pesa, an inspector with the PCPB, said the sale of pesticides by hawkers is illegal and poses a serious threat to public health and safety. He warned that such chemicals are hazardous when sold without proper regulation, licensing, or safe handling procedures

Pesa noted that unregulated pesticides can endanger both users and the environment, adding that the board will continue conducting enforcement operations to eliminate the illegal trade
Speaking in Kisumu, he cautioned traders against selling pesticides on the streets, stressing that the board will take stern action against anyone found flouting the law
