Panic briefly disrupted operations at Kowet Police Post in Siaya Sub-County on Tuesday morning after a large snake slithered into the station’s report office
According to a police incident report filed at Siaya Police Station, the reptile entered the office at around 8:00 a.m. while officers were on duty
Two police constables first spotted the snake as it emerged from a nearby bush and made its way into the building, triggering alarm among officers and members of the public who were present at the station

The snake, described as unusually large, was difficult to identify due to its distinctive skin pattern, which officers said resembled jungle camouflage
The unexpected intrusion prompted an immediate response, with police officers and local residents working together to subdue the reptile. It was eventually killed at the scene

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers in Siaya were later notified and responded to the incident. They documented the occurrence and removed the snake’s carcass for further examination and archival purposes
Police confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident, but noted that the episode highlights growing concerns over wildlife encroachment in areas close to human settlements and public institutions
