MP Accused of Assaulting Man in Alleged Love Triangle Dispute

A Member of Parliament from Kisii County is under public scrutiny after allegedly assaulting a 36-year-old man at a restaurant in Kisii on Thursday, November 27

According to a police report filed by the victim, Omariba Moriasi, the lawmaker confronted and attacked him over what is suspected to be a love triangle

CCTV footage from the establishment shows a man entering the restaurant and sitting across from Omariba before the MP walked in moments later and headed straight to his table, launching an assault

The altercation lasted several minutes, with other patrons attempting to separate the two. Omariba claims the MP accused him of interfering in his private relationship

“He stormed in shouting that I must respect him and leave his girlfriend alone,” Omariba told reporters, adding that he sustained injuries during the confrontation

His lawyers have questioned why the legislator has not been arrested despite the complaint being filed on the same day at Kisii Central Police Station, stating that all necessary medical documents, including P3 forms, have been submitted

“We want to know why the MP is walking free. Our client fears for his safety,” the legal team stated

Police are yet to issue an official statement on the progress of the investigation
