Three Suspects in Embu College Student Murder Granted Ksh. 500,000 Bond

Three men accused of murdering Embu college student Jackline Waruguru Kathuri in November appeared before Kerugoya High Court on Tuesday
Collins Muchira, John Brian Kimotho Kamau, and Stephen Muchiri Karani were charged with murder contrary to sections 203 and 204 of the Penal Code
They pleaded not guilty and were each released on a Ksh. 500,000 bond, with a similar amount required from a surety
The suspects were arrested two weeks ago following the disappearance of 22-year-old Waruguru in Gichugu on November 16

Her mutilated body was found a week later on November 22 in a coffee plantation at Ngotho, Ngiriambu village
Waruguru, a first-year Human Resource student at Embu College, was reported missing by her family, led by her father, Moses Kiura
The discovery of her severely disfigured body shocked the local community

Dr. Peter Williams, the pathologist who conducted the postmortem at Kerugoya Mortuary, confirmed that Waruguru died from strangulation
Her body had significant decomposition, including a skeletal head and missing right hand and breast, with her private organs also decomposed
The case continues to evoke fear among residents of Gichugu as investigations proceed
