The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has launched an operation to track down and recapture two lionesses that escaped from Nairobi National Park
In a statement issued on Wednesday, KWS said the lionesses were sighted in the Sholinke trading area of Kajiado East Constituency, Kajiado County, about 8.3 kilometres from the park
“Latest coordinates: 37 M 261961 UTM 9834651. KWS teams are actively managing the situation,” the agency said

KWS rangers, supported by veterinary teams, have been deployed to locate, recapture and safely relocate the animals back to the park. The wildlife authority emphasized that public safety remains the top priority as the operation continues
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant, keep children indoors, and avoid moving around unnecessarily
