Police in Kisumu have launched an operation to retrieve the beheaded body of a man discovered floating in a river in the Chemelil area

The decomposing remains were wrapped in a green sack, raising suspicions of foul play
Officers who responded to the scene confirmed that the body was headless

However, attempts to retrieve it were unsuccessful due to darkness and the depth of the river
The recovery operation was suspended and is expected to resume this morning, with scene-of-crime personnel from Kisumu set to join the effort as investigations continue
