Ruto Promises Kiambu Residents Markets Within Two to three Months

Speaking during a visit to juja constituency , the President said the market will provide a better working environment for small-scale traders and help boost local businesses. He noted that improving trading spaces is part of the government’s broader plan to empower ordinary Kenyans and stimulate economic growth at the grassroots level.

President William Ruto has pledged to construct a new market for traders in Kiambu County, assuring residents that the project will be completed within the next two months.

Ruto emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring traders operate in modern, organized markets that offer proper facilities, including sanitation, storage space, and security. According to him, such developments are essential in supporting micro and small enterprises, which form a key pillar of the country’s economy.

Residents who attended the event welcomed the announcement, saying a new market would ease congestion and provide a safer place for them to conduct business. Many traders expressed hope that the promise would be fulfilled within the stated timeline.

The President also reiterated his administration’s focus on development projects across counties, stressing that improving infrastructure and supporting local trade remain top priorities for the government.

Local leaders who accompanied the Head of State urged residents to support ongoing development initiatives, saying the planned market is expected to create more opportunities for traders and strengthen the local economy once completed.
