Ruto Pledges Ksh.11 Billion for Makueni Affordable Housing, Inspects 755 Units in Wote

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s affordable housing initiative, announcing that the government will inject Ksh.11 billion into the construction of houses and hostels in Makueni County

The announcement came during an inspection tour of the Boma Yangu Wote Pool Affordable Housing Estate, where 755 units are currently under construction

“These projects are proof that the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is benefiting all Kenyans without favouritism. No region will be left behind in development

Implemented by Parklane Construction Company, the Boma Yangu Wote Pool Estate is now 50% complete and is expected to be finished by 23rd January 2026

The development will feature a shopping centre, community hall, kindergarten, clubhouse, 65 commercial stalls, borehole, secure boundary wall, backup generator, cabro-paved driveways, green spaces, garbage receptacles, and outdoor recreational areas for children

In addition, President Ruto reactivated and handed over the Wote Civil Servants Housing Project to Hashit Construction and General Supplies Ltd. Valued at Ksh.556,944,560.64, the project is scheduled for completion by 10th May 2027 and will provide civil servants stationed in Wote Town with affordable accommodation

Workers on both projects will receive skills training in masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electrical wiring, painting, landscaping, gardening, LPG reticulation, interior design, welding, and metal fabrication

Beneficiaries will be assessed and certified through the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)

The projects form part of the government’s broader agenda to deliver affordable housing, create employment, and stimulate local business opportunities in Makueni County
