Preacher Warns TikTokers at Betty Bayo’s Viewing: “No Photos or You’ll Lose Your Phones”

The viewing area quickly grew congested as content creators jostled for footage, prompting a preacher to intervene in order to protect the family’s privacy

A tense moment unfolded at the Kenyatta University Funeral Home on Thursday morning as crowds gathered to view the body of beloved gospel singer Betty Bayo, ahead of her burial later in the day

Mourners began arriving early, including Betty’s husband Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, her children Sky and Danny, and her ex-husband Prophet Victor Kanyari

The viewing area quickly grew congested as content creators jostled for footage, prompting a preacher to intervene in order to protect the family’s privacy

Inside the viewing room, Tash sat between Betty’s children as relatives and close friends surrounded them. With cameras raised and TikTokers pushing for the best angles, the preacher ordered the room cleared, instructing that the family would view Betty’s body last and in peace

He also issued a stern warning to creators attempting to film inside the premises

“Beyond this room, no photos. If you take any, you risk losing your device. Security is tight,” he announced, emphasizing that only outside images would be allowed

According to mourners, in adherence to Kikuyu traditions, the body will only be viewed at the morgue before the casket is sealed. The remains will then be transported in a Mercedes-Benz limousine hearse to Ndumberi Stadium for a public service, before proceeding to her final resting place

Fans leaving the viewing room were overcome with emotion, with some breaking down after seeing the late gospel artist. TikToker Obidan Dela commended the morticians, saying Betty “looked like she was peacefully asleep”
