Political Thunder in ODM as Oburu Accuses Sifuna of Overstepping Limits
Oburu, speaking during a charged political engagement, accused Sifuna of behaving as though he was beyond reproach, insisting that no political figure—regardless of position—should act like an unquestionable authority.

A political storm is brewing inside the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga launched a blistering attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, dismissing his authority within party ranks and revealing growing tensions around the leadership style of party leader Raila Odinga.
Oburu, speaking during a charged political engagement, accused Sifuna of behaving as though he was beyond reproach, insisting that no political figure—regardless of position—should act like an unquestionable authority.
“He is not the Pope. He is not above questioning,” Oburu said, escalating an already simmering internal party rift.
The remarks come amid increasing public exchanges between senior ODM figures, with Sifuna having recently made bold statements on party direction and national politics that have sparked unease among some veterans within the movement.
In a striking revelation, Oburu further claimed that Raila Odinga had grown “fed up” with Sifuna’s conduct, suggesting that the party leader was increasingly frustrated with what he views as indiscipline and unilateral political positioning within ODM ranks.
The comments have intensified speculation about widening cracks in the party, as competing voices emerge over strategy, messaging, and leadership authority ahead of future political realignments.
Sifuna, known for his sharp political commentary and outspoken stance on governance issues, has not officially responded to Oburu’s latest remarks. However, his allies have in the past defended his assertiveness, arguing that he represents a modern and reform-oriented voice within ODM.
