Orange Democratic Movement to Convene NDC on March 27 Amid Intensifying Coalition Talks

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will hold its National Delegates Council (NDC) meeting on March 27 as the party steps up coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election

Speaking at the party’s Linda Ground rally at Posta Grounds in Migori County, ODM leader Dr. Oburu Odinga announced that he has been mandated to initiate negotiations with like-minded political parties interested in forming the next government

Odinga said ODM’s strategy for capturing power in 2027 hinges on building strong and strategic alliances, noting that the party is open to discussions with various political formations

He further revealed that ODM is exploring the possibility of talks with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) regarding a potential power-sharing arrangement. He assured supporters that the party’s 10-point agenda would be reviewed and fully implemented as part of any future agreement

ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga reiterated the party’s openness to viable coalitions that would enhance its prospects in the next election cycle. She cautioned that failure to implement the party’s key agenda items could create political challenges moving forward

Several leaders addressed the rally, including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina. Junet signaled interest in vying for the deputy president’s position under a future coalition arrangement

The March 27 NDC meeting is expected to assess progress on coalition talks and outline the party’s roadmap toward 2027

Wanga and Odinga dismissed claims that ODM’s engagement with UDA could undermine the current broad-based government arrangement, maintaining that the party remains united and focused on its long-term political objectives
