A group of Rift Valley lawmakers has called on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following his controversial remarks regarding the death of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla

The legislators accused Kalonzo of making politically charged statements that could escalate tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago led the criticism, urging the Wiper leader to present evidence if he has any

Speaking on Sunday, December 7, MP Ng’eno said:
“I heard Kalonzo making claims about the death of Ogolla, alleging he was killed. If he has any information on who may have been responsible, he should report it to the police and DCI so that the alleged perpetrator can be brought to justice”

Senator Mandago also criticized Kalonzo, linking him to irregularities during the disputed 2007 presidential election. He questioned Kalonzo’s moral authority to make such claims

The lawmakers’ remarks came during a church fundraiser in Kanui, Baringo North, where they warned Kenyans to be cautious about sensational political comments that could deepen divisions ahead of the polls

Kalonzo’s comments on Ogolla’s death were made on Saturday, December 6, during the burial of Raila Odinga’s sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga

He claimed that Ogolla, a prominent member of the community, was deliberately targeted, stating:
“Ogolla did not die in an accident. He was taken out. We owe it to our people to seek the truth and speak it without fear”

This is not the first time Kalonzo has sparked debate over Ogolla’s death. In April, he raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the former military chief’s assignment and even dared the DCI to summon him to provide his account

The Rift Valley lawmakers have now formally demanded that Kalonzo present himself to the DCI to clarify his remarks
