National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has urged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Management Committee to expel party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of advancing interests that are not aligned with the party’s agenda
Speaking on Sunday in Suba South constituency, Mbadi—who previously served as ODM chairperson—claimed that Sifuna and some of his allies have shifted their loyalty to the United opposition, a move he says threatens unity within the party
According to Mbadi, ODM should not allow individuals with conflicting interests to undermine its policies and leadership. He argued that members who no longer agree with the party’s direction should be allowed to leave openly rather than create internal divisions

“If someone does not want to agree with ODM policies, that person should be left to go so that we know how many people he is leaving with,” Mbadi said
“Someone like Sifuna will not remain in ODM because he is already conflicted. He is selling the agenda of someone else. You cannot keep him in the party,” he added
Mbadi further accused Sifuna of indiscipline toward party leader Oburu Oginga, saying this warranted swift action by the Central Management Committee. He emphasized that delaying disciplinary measures would only deepen divisions within ODM

The former party chairperson also dismissed the Linda Wananchi campaign associated with Sifuna, Babu Owino, and James Orengo, stating that the initiative lacks a clear foundation and does not reflect ODM’s official position.
Despite resistance from some party members, Mbadi maintained that the cooperation between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) would continue. He expressed confidence in ODM’s stability and future under its current leadership
“ODM is a solid party. It will remain strong the way Raila left it. We will continue to engage our people and ensure they remain steadfast under the leadership of Oburu Oginga,” Mbadi said
