Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s security detail has been withdrawn just days after he was attacked by armed goons during a political event in Bungoma County
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the governor confirmed that officers guarding his home and those personally assigned to him were recalled at exactly 12:00am on Wednesday
The move comes in the wake of a violent incident on Saturday, November 22, when attackers ambushed Natembeya at Chwele Ward in Kabuchai
The group also reportedly targeted the residence of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga

Viral images and videos from the scene showed the governor’s vehicles vandalized
Natembeya alleged that shots were fired at him as the group disrupted the rally, linking the chaos to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, his long-time political rival
While inspecting damage at Kalasinga’s home, Natembeya accused Wetangula of weaponizing state machinery to intimidate opponents

“This is primitive. It is not politics. Wabunge wa Kenya, huyu ndiye Chairman wenu… sending goons to destroy the home of a member of the National Assembly because they hold a different opinion,” he said
The incident has sparked renewed debate around political violence and the safety of elected leaders, especially in regions with heightened political rivalry
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the withdrawal of the governor’s security or the investigation into the attack
