Environment CS Soipan Tuya Seeks Legal Action Against Husband

Environment Cabinet Secretary, Soipan Tuya, has taken a significant step by filing a court case against her husband, Stephen Saibulu.

In court documents acquired by Kenyans.co.ke, Tuya, represented by the law firm Daniel Ondabu and Company Advocates, is requesting a protection order for herself, her children, and her domestic staff.

Alleging physical and emotional abuse, she implores the court to grant her custody of their two children.

The court documents express Tuya’s anguish regarding her husband’s cruel treatment, citing psychological, emotional, and verbal abuse inflicted on her, her children, and her domestic workers.

The persistent abuse and erratic behavior have created an environment of constant fear for their lives.

In her application, Tuya is seeking financial support, including Ksh525,000 for the maintenance and well-being of her children. This amount includes Ksh225,000 for half of the children’s school fees, Ksh100,000 for monthly entertainment expenses, and an additional Ksh100,000 for the overall cost of caring for the children.

Tuya has also requested the court to issue a restraining order against Saibulu, specifically prohibiting him, his associates, or agents from any form of physical, emotional, verbal abuse or issuing threats towards her and their children.

She emphasized that her relationship with her husband had become unbearable due to his consistent failure to contribute to the children’s upkeep and maintenance. Furthermore, she cited various instances of violence, abuse, and infidelity.

Tuya asserted that she had assumed the role of the sole provider, addressing all the fundamental needs of their children, encompassing education, shelter, clothing, and nourishment.

The lawsuit was filed due to Saibulu’s perceived negligence, which began following their separation in October 2020. He allegedly adopted a lax attitude towards the children’s financial necessities, contributing nothing towards school fees, clothing, and other essential requirements.
