An environmental conservationist, Dr. Joel Meitamei Olol Dapash, has moved to withdraw his lawsuit at the Environment and Land Court in Narok, which sought to halt operations at a newly established safari camp in the Maasai Mara National Reserve
In a notice of withdrawal filed in court, Dr. Dapash stated that he wishes to withdraw the entire suit “with no orders as to cost”

The case, originally filed on August 8, 2025, challenged the legality and environmental compliance of the camp’s development, naming the Narok County Government, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and three others as respondents

Previously, Dr. Dapash had questioned the approval process and timeline for the camp’s construction, arguing that it threatened the environment and undermined the rights of Indigenous communities
The withdrawal marks a shift in the legal battle over the safari facility, which remains operational within the Maasai Mara National Reserve
