Bandari FC will temporarily shift their Kenya Premier League (KPL) home fixture against Gor Mahia to Kwale Stadium on 12 December, departing from their usual Mbaraki Stadium venue
Bandari CEO Tony Kibwana explained that the move is intended to enhance security and improve crowd management
“Sometimes it becomes overwhelming for us to control the crowd during our home matches at Mbaraki Stadium
We expect a bigger crowd, especially during the festive season, so we decided to take our matches to Kwale Stadium,” he said

Kwale Stadium recently received approval from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to host KPL matches. Kibwana confirmed that he and head coach Borji inspected the pitch on Monday and were satisfied with its condition
“The stadium is FKF-certified, and we are confident it will host a great match,” he added
The CEO also revealed that Kwale Stadium will host Bandari’s home games from late January 2026, as Mbaraki Stadium undergoes further renovations

“We are yet to determine the exact date for the move, but it will not be later than February next year. Renovations are necessary, and giving the pitch adequate time will be beneficial,” Kibwana noted
This season, Bandari FC have struggled, registering only two wins and sitting 11th on the KPL table with 12 points. In contrast, Gor Mahia currently lead the standings with 19 points
This Sunday, Bandari will travel for an away fixture against APS Bomet, while Gor Mahia will host Murang’a Seal in Nairobi
