Autopsy Confirms Makueni CECM Dr. Sonnia Nzilani Died from Heart Complications

A post-mortem examination has confirmed that Makueni County CECM for Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Sonnia Nzilani, died from cardiac tamponade caused by a ruptured heart, leading to significant internal bleeding
Family pathologist Dr. Ancent Kituku released the findings on Tuesday during a media briefing at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home in Machakos, where he was accompanied by Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr
Dr. Kituku noted that the autopsy was essential to determine the exact cause of the 45-year-old’s sudden death and dispel circulating speculation

He revealed that Dr. Nzilani had been diagnosed with a heart condition 12 years earlier and had been receiving continuous medical care, including regular cardiology reviews
According to the pathologist, she had recently sought treatment after experiencing abdominal pain, although the severity of her condition was not immediately clear
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. said county officials sought clarification due to concerns raised after a mark was spotted on her forehead and her pallor at the time of death

The post-mortem results confirmed that her passing was purely medical and unrelated to any foul play
The governor also announced that Dr. Nzilani’s burial will take place on Saturday in Makueni County
