Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has firmly dismissed talks about succession, insisting he remains focused on his duties as second in command and is committed to ensuring the speedy delivery of government projects across the country

Speaking on Sunday in Kariene town, Central Imenti Constituency, Kindiki emphasized that his priority is supporting President William Ruto in his bid for a second term, while overseeing ongoing development initiatives

“I am the Deputy President. This seat is going nowhere and when we are done with the second term we will progress ahead in search for the higher office,” he stated

The DP made the remarks after attending the Induction and Installation Service of Bishop Doreen Mwathe as Bishop of Abothuguchi Synod, Methodist Church of Kenya, in Kirigara, Central Imenti

He described himself as a veteran politician who knows when to engage in politics and when to focus on service delivery

“It will not be engaging in idle talk every day because we have a lot to do for the people,” he noted

Kindiki highlighted key projects in Meru County, including ongoing road works, the upgrade of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6, the redesign of Nithi Bridge, the construction of Gakoromone Modern Market—the largest in the country once completed and Mariene University in Central Imenti

Accompanying the DP were Meru Governor Mutuma M’ithingia, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, MPs Kirima Ngucine and Mpuru Aburi, County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi, MCAs, and other local leaders

Kindiki’s remarks come amid rising speculation about Kenya’s 2027 elections, but he remains focused on development, asserting that leadership will ultimately be judged by what it delivers for the people
