President William Ruto has set his sights on a decisive victory in the 2027 General Election, aiming to win by a margin of two to three million votes through a potential coalition with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)
Speaking on Monday at State House, Nairobi, during a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Governing Council meeting, Ruto emphasized the need to broaden the party’s political base to unite the country and consolidate gains achieved under the broad-based government
“In the coming election, we want to win by a margin of between 2 and 3 million so that we unite the country and walk together. In the last election, we won by a margin of 200,000. There’s justification for us to consolidate the country into one,” Ruto said

He praised the performance of key leaders under the current broad-based government, singling out Treasury CS John Mbadi for his contributions. The president also confirmed ongoing discussions with ODM on the possibility of forming a coalition ahead of the next election
“We have agreed with the leadership of ODM to explore the option of a coalition in the next election because we want to broaden our base,” Ruto said
The president called for the expedited implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, urging both Houses of Parliament to fast-track the process

On party structures, Ruto stressed the importance of grassroots engagement. He directed that UDA repeat party elections in polling centres with low turnout and reaffirmed that party nominations will be strictly managed by the party
“We have instructed NEB that any polling centre where fewer than 50 people voted must repeat the process. All nominations will be determined by the party,” he said, highlighting that strong party structures are essential to securing a decisive mandate and advancing the government’s transformation agenda
On economic matters, Ruto expressed optimism about Kenya’s long-term prospects, predicting that the country could achieve first-world status within three decades. He also announced plans to allow Kenyans to buy shares in the Kenya Pipeline Company, aiming to broaden public ownership
